Inaugural Triangle Startup Drinks: Friday, May 16, 2008. Champps @ Streets at Southpoint, 6:00′ish PM

Ok, let’s kick this thing into gear and get rolling. We’ll shoot for our very first “Startup Drinks” this coming Friday. Streets at Southpoint
is a moderately central location for most of the Triangle and seems like a good compromise on location. At the first event we can talk about
what we want to do for future events…. stay strictly ad-hoc, come up with some kind of schedule, a hybrid of both, etc. as well as talk about venue.
But more importantly than a lot of navel-gazing meta-discussion will be talk about what really matters: STARTUPS! Let’s talk about how we
can start building the startup scene in this area, and get interested people together who are doing startups, or are interested in startups or whatever.
Techies, marketers, lawyers, VCs, executives, whatever, everyone is invited to come out, eat, drink and talk STARTUPS.

A simple concept: startup culture in cities around the world gathers around a bar to have a pint and discuss what they are working on, what they need help with and what they can do for each other.

Love it. My buddy is doing something similar in Boston called popsignal.
I think RTP has huge potential here. We need to unify and organize.

Good question. I was just thinking about that yesterday, trying to figure out when I would have time to be part of it. This campaign for Lieutenant Governor of NC is eating up a lot of my time, but I think we can get another episode of Startup Drinks organized sometime in a week or two.
Anybody have any suggestions for a better venue? Somewhere that has a private room that we can use would be great…
